Counseling Specialties

We are a trauma-informed practice that offers culturally sensitive counseling and therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in the following areas:

Anxiety: Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure.

Behavioral: Behavior therapy teaches children and their families how to strengthen positive child behaviors and eliminate or reduce unwanted or problem behaviors

Depression: Depression is a serious mood disorder. It can affect how you think, feel, interact with people, and handle daily life. It can cause feelings of sadness and a loss of interest or pleasure in things you once enjoyed.

Family Violence: Family violence is any threatening, coercive, dominating or abusive behavior that occurs between people in a family, domestic or intimate relationship, or former intimate relationship, that causes the person experiencing the behavior to feel fear.

Grief and Loss: Grief is a natural response to loss. It might be the loss of a loved one, relationship, pregnancy, pet, job or way of life. Other experiences of loss may be due to children leaving home, infertility and separation from friends and family

History of Abuse: Child abuse and neglect is any form of cruelty inflicted on a child. This cruelty comes in various forms, such as, physical, emotional or sexual abuse, as well as child neglect. The act is usually committed by a parent, a caretaker, or another person meant to provide child care. The abuse can affect the child's mental health and well-being. At its worst, abuse or neglect could result in physical injury or death

Parenting: Often parents wonder if other parents have the same problems they do in dealing with their children. One way they can find out is to join support groups for parents. Many parents may not have family, friends, or a community they can turn to. Finding a mom group or a parent group near them can be a helpful way to share experiences and get tips from other parents who are going through the same things.

Stress: Stress can be defined as a state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation. Stress is a natural human response that prompts us to address challenges and threats in our lives. Everyone experiences stress to some degree.

Trauma: Trauma has no boundaries regarding age, gender, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Trauma is a common experience for adults and children in American communities, and it is especially common in the lives of people with mental and substance use disorders. For this reason, the need to address trauma is increasingly seen as an important part of effective behavioral health care and an integral part of the healing and recovery process.
